My oldest and dearest lab, Bailey, mine since she was 7 weeks old, who absolutely loved all forms of water,tragically drowned at the age of 12, after being trapped under the ice as I watched, she died. Unspeakabl sadness and guilt remain with me to this day, almost one year ago. I respect your grief and wish you well.

Comments: Your beloved dog reminded me so much of our female German Shephard, Kaya, who died last March of cancer at age 10. She also was a fierce protector of her property from all animals and birds, but she loved people so much. Ban-Shee's death was very similar o Kaya's. We decided to put her down when we learned that her cancer was inoperable and her lungs were filled with it causing her so much difficulty in breathing. She, too, looked into my eyes in that last second. Such a penetrating gaze. As if she was al eady looking into heaven. I thought she had a surprised look to her, and at that moment wondered if she was seeing her beloved brother, Zach, who had died 2 years before her of kidney failure. She never really got over losing him. She laid her head down o to my arm and was gone. We've loved all our dogs as if they were our children, and greatly mourned their passing. Right now, we are dogless for the first time in over 30 years, and it's so strange. Maybe some day we'll get another one, but my husband says he can't take any more osses. My sympathy to you both. I totally understand the hole left in your hearts that will always be there. Please visit Zach and Kaya's residency sites on Rainbowsbridge. I know your Ban-shee will be with you again someday.
