Just a note to say hello. We are still here in the Caribbean and have 50
days until our return to the states. I sent out 22 applications for a job
on Mackinac Island for the summer so we shall see if anything bears
fruit. I am looking forward to another summer on the island as I miss our
friends at Trinity Episcopal a great deal. The Bible Church is searching
for a new pastor at this time so we will apply knowing that only God can
make this happen as the couple "in charge" want the church to move into a
much more pentecostal direction than we are. Still, I wouldn't mind living
on the island for a while and teaching there. We will also send out
applications to the list of churches that are open and searching for a
pastor within the N.A.C.C.C. and see what comes of them.
You may remember that I got the St. Lucia flu about a month after we got
here and it was worse than any flu I have had before. Well, Lee came down
with what we thought was the flu last Thursday night. After 4 days of
calling it the flu we have proof that it is not. He has contracted Dengue
Fever. This morning he was covered with a rash from head to toe. God be
praised that he only has the mildest of this fever because as it goes up
the severity scale it is also called Hemmorhagic Fever! Please pray for
him as the information that we have on this says that he has about another
week and that the worst part is it often saddle-backs and he could have to
go through it all again. He has not been able to keep down much other than
dry toast, broth, and once in a while oatmeal.
Class is going well for me. This class ends in another week and the next
one doesn't start until the 28th. We are celebrating our 10th anniversary
on the 28th and 1st by finally doing something special. We will sail on
the Brig Unicorn up to Castries and stay in a Bed & Breakfast and then sail
back down the next day to Soufriere. We are looking forward to the trip
and to staying in the city overnight. We hope to go out to eat for a nice
dinner as well. Normally the tourist takes the Brig Unicorn from here to
Castries and then they are taken by tour bus up to Rodney Bay, Marigot Bay
and back down to Soufriere. Our friend Deb is setting it up for us that we
can just have the boat ride and the overnight for the same price without
the whirlwind bus tour which is horrible if you are inclined to motion
sickness.
I am planning on camping at Cornerstone again this summer over the 4th of
July and my sister Naomi may come with me. I also asked my other sister
Jeannette to come and she is thinking about it, too. I am planning on
serving as a volunteer 4 hours per day during the festival to give a little
back to those who have done so much over the years.
Some of you have said that you don't know our mailing address or our phone
number so here it is:
Lee and Tonya Sissel
P.O. Box 312
Soufriere, St. Lucia, W.I.
(758)459-7429 this phone number is actually for the Butterfly House as we
still can't get a phone of our own!
Remember - email is the most reliable form of written communication for us
as it takes 17 days for a letter to arrive from the States to here.
