Clarence Gehling
Clarence was born on the Henry Gehling farm in Carroll County, Iowa, on 1 September 1920. He was drafted into the Air Force during WWII. He left for boot camp on 2 January 1943. He was sent to North Africa in March of 1944 to service the longrange bombers as a mechanic After his return home, he married Florence Kraus on 20 October 1943. They farmed first in Iowa, then on a farm they bought in southern Minnesota. Together they had four children:
1- Ronald Gehling (11 April 1947)
2- Marvin Gehling (5 December 1948)
3- Wayne Gehling 14 September 1951)
4- Elaine Gehling (16 June 1954)
