Paul Gehling




Paul Anthony Gehling was born on 15 August 1924 at the Henry Gehling farm in Carroll County, Iowa. He was drafted into the army on 18 July 1944, then shifted over to the marines by none than General George Patton. He was sent to the Pacific in December of 1944, and wounded during the assault on Okinawa on 18 May 1945. He returned home to marry Rita Muehlbauer on 30 September 1947. They farmed together on several rentals in Iowa, then bought a farm in southern Minnesota. Together they had seven children:

3- John Albert Gehling (20 July 1955)

4- Susan Marie Gehling (19 April 1957)

5- Teresa Louise Gehling (15 February 1960)

6- Michael Gehling (15 June 1962)

7- Patrick Gehling (10 December 1964)
