It all began the day Gramps brought them home as a gift for Grama. They were sabout six weeks
old and just cute little balls of white fur. "I'm going to call them Cindy and Mindy." said Grama as
she took one in each arm, walked over to the couch and sat down. Right then and there it
started. They began licking Grama's face.
"Stop, Stop! I know you are happy, but don't lick my face so much. Come along now, we are
going out to the kitchen and I'll give you two something to eat." Those two lovable pups ran
towards the kitchen so fast that they couldn't stop when they got to the rug in front of the sink.
Down they went legs in all directions. They sure looked silly sprawled out on the rug.
"This will never do" said Gramps and Grama at the same time. "They will have to learn not to run
in the house," said Gramps, "They could get hurt."
Things just got worse as the day went on. The water bowl had been spilt several times, food
ended up all over the floor and we were all tired by bedtime. That's when it really was bad. First
of all, Grama put them in a big box to sleep, she even put a nice blanket in it for them. They
barked and howled for two hours before Grama gave up and took them upstairs with her and let
them sleep on her bed. Finally we all got to sleep.
In the morning, Grama went dwonstairs to the kitchen to fix coffe and noticed the pups were not
with her, so she went to look for them. Well, it seems their legs were so short, they couldn't get
down the stairs! Just then Gramps came out, picked them up, and carried them down to the
kitchen.
"What are we going to do, these two are so small they can't do anything but run on the floor."
"Well we'll just have to carry them up and down the stairs until they are big enough to manage
them on their own."
Over the next year the pups grew and learned to keep out of trouble. Well.... almost out of
trouble. They had a time when everything they found ended up in their mouth being chewed. We
had several pairs of slippers with only one slipper left in one piece. And several pairs of socks
were chewed up also.
Thank goodness those days are finally over. We now have two of the most well behaved dogs that
you could ever want. To this day, Grama loves her little white furry dogs Cindy and Mindy.
The End.
