1 German chocolate cake mix
14 oz pkg. Kraft caramels
3/4 cup oleo
1/2 cup evaporated milk (may use skim canned milk)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

Mix cake mix according to pkg. directions. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased 9x13" pan. Bake 15 minutes at 350. Melt caramels, oleo and milk in a heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove cake from oven; pour caramel mixture over batter. Sprinkle chocolate chips over caramels, then sprinkle nuts over chocolate chips. Pour remainder of cake batter over this and return to the oven. Bake 20 minutes. Cool. May serve topped with Cool Whip.
