Smothered Chicken - from Donna

1 whole chicken
1/2 cup water
salt to taste
garlic powder to taste

Wash and clean chicken. Do not remove the skin. Salt and sprinkle garlic powder to taste. Place in a pot large enough to cover the chicken. Add 1/2 cup of water. Put cover on the pot. Place burner on low fire and cook for about 1 hour or until the chicken tears easily from the bone. Makes a great gravy to go on rice or mashed potatoes.
