1837 John emigrated to Canada from Scotland.

1840 They moved to Middlesex Co, ON. where John farmed
1855 Moved to Elgin Co, where John worked in lumber for 2 yrs.
1858 Iowa Co, Wisconsin, where he worked in mining
1861 In the spring they moved to Iowa and farmed, Section 19 in Avery Township, Hancock Co.They had 9 children who were all born in Ontario:
