While doing research on the Swishers I could not find Jacob Swisher or his son Micheal Swisher's grave and
some of the other related families. It is believe by me that the graves I can't account for are located on a
Mr.Shuping property,as in back of his house was a Cemetery.According to Mrs.Velma Shuping on
July 28,1980 when I talk to her.She recalled that Mr.Shuping father (could not remember the year ) telling
her and her husband that he let the pigs go in the cemetery and eat down the over growth, plus he removed all
the standing wood markers with names of those buried there. She recall as she was growing up being told that
some of the older Swisher's and their kin was lay to rest there. Some of the names she remembered and who
stone markers are still standing were A.Weant,Charles Weant, and a Macadon Josey.

The Shuping family that now lives on the property got the land from John Hoffman in 1935,he got the land
from Spencer Sumerson (not sure of spelling) who received the land from Theo.Fesperman .

There was a church on the property believe named Mt.Tabor Meth. in 1874.It is believe that a Mr. Ridenhour
has records of this old church..I was unable to locate and talk to him.

( I don't guess these two could been their children, might be Mathias brother.)

Letter dated Dec.3,1980
              Dear lois,
I called the lady about the record of members at Society Church she didn't have Mathias, there was
a Mariah Swisher joined the church July 1852 must died Sept 1869.You might have that in your record, She
had Roxie joined in 1905,a C.M. Swisher joined in Aug.1884,Meartha Swisher (1894 died). I don't think it is
spelled right. There must be two Calvin M.Swisher buried over there, one's wife was Martha J. Colvert died
Jan.16,1894 and the infant daughter died also, and the other Calvin M.Swisher wife was Delia Stroud died 1931.

She said some of the records were so old they fell apart and you couldn't read them, they are working on it so
maybe if they get it in shape we can find out more.

I'm sending this picture of Floyd Swisher's oldest son he never did have a picture (Floyd didn't) made.I thought
you said you would like to have one out of the family, you can return it some time.

I feel like if you ever come back and go to Statesville library you can find out more.If I'm ever up there in the
library and find out anything I'll let you know.Hope you have a nice Christmas. How is the weather up there?
It's been nice here a few days but windy.I enjoy getting out raking leaves.Wish I could been more help to you.

The family of the late Moses L.Brown resides at the three mile (Coughenour) house on
this road, which by dint of industry, with good judgement to direct,is now one of the most desirable places
near. Then comes Jonas Swisher, ajoining, whose fixedness in all things,is well known. And then "Craig's
Muster ground?--a noted place--has changed so much that old acquaintances would not recognize it. Faley
Ellis, whom every body used to know, lives here. The road runs South of where the Jack Craige house
(now removed) stood, and there only remain two or three of the great venerable oaks, that years agone,
sheltered the people and politicians who gathered there once a year to talk of State and Federal affairs.

Letter received from Ruby Messick March 2,1981

Dear Mrs. Glasgow,
It was a surprise for me to hear from you concerning the Swishers.I would have wrote before now but
I have been sick.I have a picture of our Grandfather William Swisher's home with five of his children standing in
front of it.All his children were born there and all of us children were born there, and also Grady P.Swisher
of Kernerville was born there. My brother James Clifford Messick and I still live at the old Swisher home place.
I have got all of the pictures of Williams children except one and that one is Carrie Etta Swisher Pendry, but my
cousin J.Roy Pendry is going to send you that one with all his family.I took four of the old pictures I had to the
studio at Yadkinville this afternoon to have fixed for you and they will cost $16.64.I had a family picture of my
family, the only one that we had made all together.
I had one of the home place with five of Grandfather's children, and one of Aunt Angelina another one of
Grandfather's children,I never did get to see her because she died before I ever seen her and I took one of
Grandfather and Grandmother side by side and I feel like this one will turn out good they said it would be about
two weeks before they would be back but just as soon as I get them back Ill send them to you in the envelope
that you sent me. My cousin Grady P.Swisher visited with us yesterday and my cousin J.Roy Pendry visited
with us today.
There is five of us children and my oldest brother is the only one that had any children. But when I send
you the pictures I will send you the history of my parents family as best I can.
                                                               Sincerely,
                                                              Ruby F.Messick
p.s.

"Nellie" the name that James Swisher put on back of that picture was Francis Marion Swisher's wife,he made
a mistake by putting it on William Swisher picture. She was Nellie Mathis before she married Uncle Francis.
Hope to hear from you again soon
