~~~~~~~~~~The Jacobs~~~~~~~~~~
There are an overwhelming number of Jacob Swisher/Sweitzers etc. back along the family tree, and much of the confusion that arises in tracing many of our roots derives from these nasty Jacobs. I'm just getting started compiling as much of a record of these as I can from what has been sent to me. If you have more information regarding a Jacob that I haven't listed here, please feel free to email me and I'll post it here. What I have so far....
The following information is kindly contributed by Harriet Schroeder to my query regarding Jacob Swisher/Switzer/Schweitzers who might have emigrated to America in the early half of the 18th century:
"In the ships' logs included in Strassburger and Hinke's PENNSYLVANIA GERMAN PIONEERS, there are listed 5 Jacob Schweitzers who might fit within your time frame:
Jacob Swisser and Maria Catrin Swisser aboard the "Pink Plaisance,"  arrived September 21, 1732;
Jacob Switzer (age 23) and Christian Switzer (age 20) aboard the "Nancy,"
September 20, 1738;
Jacob Schweitzer aboard the "Crown," August 30, 1749;
Jacob, Joseph, and Leonhard Schwietzer aboard the "Rawley,"October 23, 1752;
Jacob aboard the "Brothers, September 26, 1753."
Toni Nash has an extensive exploration of the many Jacobs. Click here to take a look.
More to come, as I pick through all the information that's been sent to me. Be patient....you wouldn't believe the piles of email I have here!
