Hello!
I am looking for information on a John Switzer (b abt 1806), originally
from Ohio, listed in the 1850 census of Ray County, Mo. He was married to
Elizabeth (?) (b abt 1808), also from Ohio. He was 44, she was 42 on the
census. They had 10 children listed in 1850, the 5 older were born in
Ohio, the 5 younger in Missouri. As of 1850 they were: Samuel C. (20),
Mathew (18), Andrew J (17), Peter (14), Mary J. (12), Jacob (10), John F.
(7), James (5), George A. ((3), Marion B. (1/12).

I believe Mathew is my gg Grandfather Matthew A. Switzer, listed in the
1880 Ray County, Mo. soundex. So far the only Switzer info that may match
in Ohio is from Darke County. Thanks for any help you can give.

4/21/98 Addendum:

I also just received some additional information on Matthew Switzer -
 we have a conflict in birth dates of 14 Aug 1831 or 15 Aug 1833, the latter
 I believe to be the correct one.  He was born in Richland Ohio to John Switzer
and Elizabeth Alexander Switzer.

 any information that would help her out, please email her directly.

I need information on Matilda Hatley Switzer , Married to Fredrick W."Dutch " Switzer. He was born in 1822 in Switzerland and moved to Hanover Germany then to Mississippi. He died 2-22-1899 in Hansborough Ms.  They were married some say in Georgia and others say New York. Would appreciate if you have any information on Matilda.   Fredricks son Henry's marriage licence he was listed as Henry Swisher.  I have information on hundreds of his decendants.

I have found that SWISHER & SWITZER
were used almost interchangably in some areas; notably Hampshire & Hardy
County (West) Virginia and Gallia County, Ohio.

I am a descendant of Valentin SCHWEITZER who settled in Hampshire Co.
(W.)Virginia through his son Philip who settled in Gallia County, OH.

My line moved on to Gallatin, then Saline County, Illinois & then my
father moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where I was born.  I have a great
deal of information on both SWITZER and SWISHER that I am always happy
to share--also lots of holes in my data that I am just as happy to fill
in.
