Here are a few family
pictures from our Swisher family. Soon I'll be scanning some of
the older photos I have and get them up here. If anyone has family photos they'd like to contribute, please feel free to send them to me as attachments to your email.
- My great-grandfather, Benjamin
Franklin Swisher (b.1-21-1878 Iowa City, IA d. 1-22-1959) He's about 20 years old in this
photo. He was a well respected attorney as were many of
the Iowa Swishers. He had a very wry sense of humor and
delighted in teasing all of us children.
- My Grandmother, Martha
Elizabeth Swisher Horner (b.
4-6-1904 Waterloo, IA d. 103-1986) This photo was taken when she was about
45. She was my inspiration all my life. Talented,
artistic and courageous, with a "take it as it
comes" outlook.
- My Great-Granparent's
house in
Waterloo, IA. The
house was built of stone with walls a foot thick. The
yard was a full half city block, filled with beautiful
tall trees and gardens. The house had a wonderful
library and a grand table that sat twenty people! I
spent many wonderful times there over the years.
- Benjamin Swisher's farm in Swisher Iowa.
