Daycare theft

You are never going to believe this -- someone tried (and succeeded) to break into the daycare center last night! Of course, what kind of moron breaks into a little kids center? What were they expecting to find? Needless to say they were disappointed.

Anyway, except for the large mess and glass in the infant toddler room - which is where Katie usually stays - the story is actually amusing. All the doors have alarms, so the thief breaks in through a window. His first shock is that everything that a child could possibly pull over on themselves is (duh!) bolted down. (Surprise!!) So the TV in the rec room is bolted to the table and the table is bolted to the wall. Hell, the VCR is nearly bolted to the ceiling to keep little hands and crayons out of it. The small TVs used in the classrooms on rainy days are locked up god knows where in the meantime so that kids aren't playing with the buttons and sticking things in the VCR.

So, thwarted by the TVs the thief heads to the office. Again, there isn't anything worth stealing - the copy/fax machine is HUGE industrial size. The computer is all connected together with special safety locks (plus they can't walk out the door or the alarms will go off and getting the computer and all its parts out the window was impossible.)

So basically the thief then got ticked off and rifled through any available paperwork and just scattered things around. There is no cash. They didn't take any toys or food or anything (the refrigerator also has an industrial lock on it)

I am going to ask later, when the owners and director aren't in such a tizzy, if the personal files are all locked. There is a great deal of information on those sheets - both about the children and about the parents, and I would be concerned if they got that information about my family.

Needless to say, the thief in question is a low watt bulb. They probably won't catch him, and since he didn't take anything I guess they could only charge him with breaking and entering. So the story is pretty funny when you think about it.
