Near Neos Marmaras
on the Sithonian Peninsula

Around the Easter Holiday in 2001, Debi and I with our friends from Germany, Sam and Jennifer Shearer visited the Sithonian Peninsula.

We stayed at the Athena Pallas Hotel near Neos Marmaras, a beautiful resort. It was in off season, so rates were very good and we really enjoyed the beauty of the area. Our first night at the hotel there was a power outage on the entire peninsula so the sky was beautiful. Debi and I marveled at how many stars we could see because of the lack of polution in the air and absolutely no light for many miles around.

The landscape of the peninsula was quite spectacular with sweeping vistas and thickly forested hills. The main road went around the entire peninsula. There were many beautiful sandy beaches and quaint Greek villages. We visited many of them and enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
