I grew up in New York for 13 years, born in Glen Cove, Long Island in 1965. My family moved nearby to Northport, where I lived until I was 8 years old. We lived on a cul-de-sac and I remember the whiffle ball games on the street and the football games in our backyard.
After 8th grade, my family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. This was 1979. I went to 3 different high schools, Apollo, Moon Valley, Cortez and back to Moon Valley graduating from Moon Valley High School in 1983.
After high school graduation, I went to Arizona State Univ. and majored in Computer Systems Engineering. I went to the 1987 Rose Bowl game in which ASU beat Michigan - GO SUN DEVILS!! During my years at ASU, I did co-op work at IBM-Austin for a few months for 3 different years (1986-1988). That co-op experience landed me a job at IBM-Santa Teresa Lab (STL) in San Jose, California after my college graduation in Dec. 1988.
So off to San Jose, California I went. San Jose is a great place to live, it has a warm climate ( much warmer than San Francisco even though we are only 40 miles away ) and is close to a lot of different places like the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco, Monterey, and the snow in the Sierra Nevada (Lake Tahoe). I no longer work at STL ( now called IBM Silicon Valley Lab ).
In 1993, I married my wife Judy. We have 2 daughters: Maria, who was born in 1994, and Colleen Margaret, who was born in 2001. My wife is a native of San Jose and was a school teacher at our Catholic Church school before our children were born. She works full-time in the evening at Holy Family Parish office as the evening receptionist. My daughters go to Catholic schools in the area.
I am a Catholic. My interests are basketball and sports in general. My new hobbies are American History and politics.
My family and I are parishioners at Holy Family Catholic Parish in San Jose where I have been a member since 1991. I am a Sunday Mass lector. I am also a member of the Knights of Columbus a Catholic Men's organization (yes, the Catholic Church does have similar Catholic Women's organization like the Catholic Daughters) that does parish and charitable works.
I was involved with Mission San Jose Community, a Catholic Charismatic covenant community in the San Francisco Bay Area. We have charismatic prayer meetings most Sundays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m at Holy Family Parish (in the Holy Family Living Room behind the church) in San Jose. All are welcome to come and praise the Lord.
Go here for more details on Mission San Jose Community and the schedule of our Sunday gatherings.
I have a great Father Junipero Serra and the California Mission links page. Father Serra brought the Catholic faith to California in the mid 1700's.
I love Veggie Tales, a great kids (and grownup) animated video series with Christian values and Silly songs. Over 10 titles to choose from and they are all very funny.
