Doghouse on the Web
Pearl was born on the 50th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day. We had lots of names for a male Bloodhound(Molson, Otis and Duke) but just couldn't get in touch with a female name that rings. When the breeder told us when her birthday was, it narrowed the names down to Hickum Field, Schofield barracks, USS Arizona or Pearl. So we chose Pearl.
Pearl is very active in the social arena. She takes a
great deal of pride in her appearance.
While partying down it is very important
not to loose your cool.
She also plays dog games. One of her favorites
is eat the vacuum cleaner.
She can be a pretty effective guard dog,
if she smells her enemy.
I think Pearl smells something.
In spite of all the dog activity, Pearl is trained to track people. She doesn't
get to enjoy her favorite passtime much since the kids are older, but
she still gets excited when the tracking collar comes out and she hears those words,
"GO FIND, PEARLY".
IN MARCH OF 2000, PEARL HAD TO BE PUT TO SLEEP.
SHE HAD A VERY SERIOUS
EAR INFECTION AND BUILT UP AN IMMUNITY TO
ANTIBIOTICS. SHE WAS
8 YEARS OLD AND LIVED THE LIFE OF A QUEEN.
SHE WILL BE REMEMBERED AS A LOYAL FRIEND
AND A FAITHFUL COMPANION.
SHE ALWAYS SHOWED UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND I
MISS HER.
