Welcome to our home

The Larkin Estate near Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Our Home in Summer

As you can probably guess from the basketball hoop and gazebo, children live here. In the summer, there is a wading pool beside the play house for them and their friends and a pond out back in the woods.

We have seven acres, which gives Shane and his dad plenty to mow and still leave Erica and her mom plenty of room for flower gardens.

There is also more than enough room for a bigger vegetable garden than Shane and Erica would, of their own accord, chose to weed and water.

Our Home in Winter

On Christmas Day, 2002, we had a whiteout blizzard that closed the New York State Thruway and left nearly two feet of snow in our front yard.

Our next door neighbors had dinner with us and had trouble getting out of our drive way at 3:00 PM.

Such storms are not unusual for Upstate New York.

The View From Our Porch

A few days after Christmas, my dad took these pictures (this is the only time that I recall him going out doors during his visit).

Our Driveway in Winter

One of our neighbors who owns a tractor came over right after it stopped snowing and plowed our drive way.

That was really a god-send because Erica was recovering from mono and I had a full blown, back-aching case of  mono, and Shane was just getting over a  bout with Strepp throat.

Shoveling the drive would have been a killer.
