Individual Development

Some of  annual projects includes:

  • Kid's Day, an informational and safety awareness day usually held in the fall of each year.  Booths such as Kid-Care (child identification), Poison Control, Fire Department, Sheriff's Department and Reservoir Patrol.  Face painting, a space jump, and etc. are usually part of the days events.  Kid's Day is scheduled for September 19th at Grant's Ferry Market.  We plan on Photo ID'ing over 400 children.

  • Charity Golf Tournament, benefiting a local charity.  This year our tournament was held in August, at Bay Pointe Country Club.  Proceeds benefited MDA.

  • Christmas for  the Rankin County Group Home.  We go shopping, wrap the presents and supply a Christmas party for this group of  developmentally disabled girls.

  • Haunted House  We raised money to benefit the High School Band.

  • Mississippi Fire Fighters Memorial Burn Center Fund Raisers

  • And whatever cause or group our chapter members feel need help!

We offer a wide range individual development projects.  Projects such as Speak-Up, which helps us to become better public speakers and presenters.  Write-Up, which helps to develop our writing skills.  We conduct seminars about timely topics such as financial management, stress management, buying your first home, etc.  Guest speakers are also part of our chapter meetings.  The Jaycees are well connected on the local and state level of our government.  Many are past members and welcome a chance to speak.

  • What better way to get to know people in your community, that are basically in the same point of their career that you are.  You will build lasting personal and business relationships.  Also you have the added benefit of saying "I am a Jaycee".  You would be surprised at how many of past and present business leaders are former Jaycees.

  • State Senator, Terry Burton

  • State Auditor, Phil Bryant

  • State Attorney General, Mike Moore

  • United States Senator, Trent Lott

  • Lt. Governor, Ronnie Musgrove

  • Noted author, John Grisham

  • Former Jackson Mayor, Dale Danks

  • and a host of others, to numerous to mention them all!
