TO THE UNITED DAUGHTERS OF THE CONFEDERACY: 

The undersigned, residing at Laurens S.C., who is an Ex-Confederate Soldier and a member of Camp No. 501 U.C.Ds.,  hereby, at your request, presents this Certificate of Eligibility for a Southern Cross of Honor. 

He entered the service of the Confederate States on the 14th day of April, 1861, as a Private in Company ' I ' of the 3rd Regiment of South Carolina Volunteers, Infantry C.S.A., and was at that time a resident of Laurens County S.C. 

He was honorably discharged from said service by Surrender of the Armies of the Confederate States on the 26th day of April, 1865, at which time he held the rank of Private.
