  • Cards exist showing Timothy Langston to have been present for the months of June 1777, July 1777, Aug 1777, Sept 1777, Oct 1777,  Nov 1777, Dec 1777, Jan 1778, Feb 1778, and Mar 1778. 
Pay Roll cards exist for the months of Apr 1777, May 1777, June 1777, July 1777, Aug 1777, Sept 1777, Oct 1777, Nov 1777, Dec 1777, Jan 1778 {for 3 mo. 8 days}, and Feb  1778, paying "6 2/3 dollars a month,
 or 2 pounds Virga Currency.



Nansemond County     }
State of Virginia, to wit }

          This day came before me Wm. Sumner a Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid, Henry Harrison Esq. presiding Justice for the County of Nansemond, aged 77 years, who being duly sworn, deposeth and sayeth that he was well  acquainted with Timothy Langston of the aforesaid County and State, who was a soldier in the War of the Revolution, that the said Langston enlisted in the Continental Service for three years and served out the term of enlistment, at the expiration of which term he again entered the army and served to the end of the war.

          Given under my hand and seal the 14th day of June  as a Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid, this 14th day of June   1833.

State of Virginia, County of Nansemond, Se:

          I, John T. Kilby, Clerk of the County Court of Nansemond, in the State of Virginia, do hereby certify that William Sumner whose name is subscribed to the foregoing certificate, is a Justice of the Peace in and for the County of Nansemond, duly commissioned, qualified, and authorised to act as such, and that due faith and 
credit is and ought to be given to his official acts as Justice of the Peace aforesaid. 

          In testimony and faith whereof I hereby subscribe my name and cause the seal of my County to be affixed this 15th.. day of June A.D.  1833, and in the 57th.. year of the Con__th..

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT
Richmond,   5 Dec 1833

          Timothy Langston is allowed Land Bounty for his services as a soldier in the Continental Line for the Rev. War if not heretofore drawn. The Register will issue a warrant accordingly.

          Know all men by these presents that we the undersigned Heirs at Law of Timothy Langston hereby authorise and empower Richard D. Webb of Nansemond Virginia as our agent and Attorney to demand and 
receive from the Register of the Land Offices of Virginia, any and all warrants for military Bounty Lands due to us for the services of the said Timothy Langston in the revolutionary war, with power to appoint one or more substitutes under him with the aforesaid powers, and all of the acts of our said agent or of his substitutes, we will ratify and confirm by these presents as witness our hands and seals this 28th Dec. 1833 -----

This day Dempsey Langstun, James Langstun, John Langstun, Melthany March, James Boyt, David Le Mitten and Armesa Baker personally appeared before me a Justice for and in the (said?) County and severally acknowledged the foregoing power of attorney to be their act and deed.

          Witness my hand and seal this 28th day of Dec  1833

In Nansemond County Court  13th January A.D.   1834.

          The Court certify that Dempsey Langstun, James Langstun, John Langstun, Welthana (sic) March, James Boyett, David S. Mettere, and Armesa Baker  are the only heirs at law of Timothy Langstun deceased, who was a soldier in the revolutionary war, upon the evidence of Elijah Jones, sworn in Court.
