Ancestors of Walter Thomas Young

My 2nd great grandfather was Walter Thomas Young. I've been searching a long time for any information on him, and finally found his ancestors. Walter's lineage, and mine, goes back to William Dickson and Sarah Beatty, who lived in Caugh, County Tyrone, Ireland. William Dickson was born about 1760.

Walter T. Young's parents were Joseph Young and Mary Smith. It is not know, as of this writing, if they came to America. Walter had three brothers: William John, Joseph, and James. It isn't known if they came to America either.

Walter's grandparents were William Young and Margaret Dickson. This is where the connection to the Dickson family starts. Even though this Dickson family originated in Scotland, this branch of the family resettled in the Ulster Plantation in Northern Ireland. They stayed in Ireland for a few generations and then slowly, from 1822 to 1832, they came to America. Information on the Dickson family can be found here: ( Dickson Family )

It was also learned that Walter T. Young fought in the Civil War in many battles, among them: Chantilly, Antietam, and Gettysburg.
