On April 21, 1998, Marilyn Cole of Berea will tell us about the Harbaugh family of Jackson Twp.
Through the cooperation of the great staff at the Ashland Public Library, we maintain a collection of books, films, manuscripts, and readers in one of their rooms. It is open to the public 10am to 9pm weekdays, and some weekend time. Our chapter also provides volunteers to help people in the library on the first Tuesday of each month, 7-9 PM, the second Thursday 1-3 pm, the 3rd Tuesday 5-6 pm, the 4th Tuesday 10am to Noon, and the 4th Thursday 1pm to 3pm. Members only may borrow and return books at those times only, and if a volunteer is present to sign them out. The collection is strong on north central Ohio and Pennsylvania. Many court records and newspapers are available on film.
We are a non-profit, also incorporated. We accept donations - have an endowment fund, etc., where the interest benefits the operation of the society. We are basically a bunch of family history enthusiasts having a good time, and hopefully preserving a bit of the past through our publications, and educating the public about Ashland County through our library and our meetings, along the way.
