AUGUST REPORTS

  • Sunday, August 6, 2000 -- What a way to start the month of August! We praise the Lord for His continued blessings. Today fifty-one were present for Sunday School, and there were 55 in the Morning Worship services. We had EIGHT first time visitors. Best of all, two young girls came forward on their profession of faith, desiring Scriptural baptism and to unite with this work. One of these young ladies was saved at church camp. Once more, we can only thank God for His wonderful blessings.       We should have the slab for our building poured by the end of this week or the first of next week. Our people are getting anxious and excited as we anticipate the arrival of the Arkansas Mission Builders and the beginning of construction on our building. We thank you for your faithful and continued support in both prayers and finances, for we realize that without your help these things would not be possible. May God richly bless you all.

  • Sunday, August 13, 2000 -- Although we saw no visible moves in the morning services, the Lord continues to bless as on young lady came to know Christ as savior following the evening worship. Again, we praise God for His goodness. Forty-three were present for Sunday School, and fifty attended the Morning Worship. There were four first time visitors today, and we understand that all of these are looking for a church home. Please pray that if it is the Lord's will He will add these to the work.
We now have a slab! This portion of the concrete work was finished last Friday. We are now ready for the arched beams to be set. This will be done in the next few weeks as we prepare for the arrival of the Arkansas Mission Builders.
Our Vacation Bible School begins tomorrow night. We expect a large number of young people. Please pray for the children and the workers and that God will be honored during this special week. Also pray that many children (and parents) may be reached due to this week of VBS.
As always we thank you for your prayers and your financial support. We know that without the Lord first and then your help we could not be as far along as we are. May God richly bless you all.

  • Sunday, August 20, 2000 -- Although there were no visible moves in the services, the Lord blessed Landmark with 43 in Sunday School and 50 in the Morning Worship services. There were four first time visitors. All of these are looking for a church home.
We are looking forward to the arrival of the Arkansas Mission Builders in about a month. Our people are getting excited at the prospect of having a new building in which to worship our Lord and are ready to work. Please continue to pray for us and for the work here. As always, we thank you all for your prayers and for you financial support. May God richly bless you in your fields of labor.

  • Sunday, August 27, 2000 -- Although our attendance was down a little (37 in Sunday School, 47 in Morning Worship, with 1 first time visitor), we were blessed with two more additions. We praise the Lord that He continues to bless and to add to Landmark. Isn't our God wonderful! We are making final preparations for the arrival of the Mission Builders. We are ready to go to work on the new building. We need your prayers continually and your financial support as you can give it. We appreciate everything that all of you have done in the past and pray that God will bless you greatly in the future.

    1999 REPORTS

  • Sunday, August 1, 1999 -- The number in attendance have remained fairly steady since our "summer slump" earlier this year. Fourteen were present for Sunday School and 25 attended with Morning Worship services today at LMBM. There were several visitors present in the services and one first time visitor. In the evening service, at the request of the sponsoring church, a vote was taken to find the desire of the members in relation to relocating or remaining at the present site. The mission members unanimously expressed their desire to relocate. The sponsoring church, Bethel MBC in Ashdown, will take up this issue in an upcoming business meeting. Please pray for us in this matter. We have looked at some property in Hope and have found one extremely attractive location. If we go forward with this project, we will, of course, need the help of our sister churches to take care of the costs of building. Please make this an object of your prayers, also. We thank you for your support and especially for your prayers. May God richly bless each of you.

  • Sunday, August 8, 1999 -- Fifteen were present in Sunday School and twenty-four in the Morning Worship services today at Landmark MBM. The summer vacation season has slowed the number of visitors to the mission lately. Of course, we understand that those who do not know Christ as Savior and those who are saved but not committed to the Lord find it easy to have "other things" to do beside attend church services. Please pray for those who have been visited lately and for our upcoming revival services (August 18-20). Also pray for Bro. Jim West as he prepared to preach God's Word during that time. We appreciate your remembering us in your prayers, and we thank you for your faithful support. May God bless you in your work for Him.

  • Sunday, August 15, 1999 -- Sunday School attendance was a little better with 20 present, while those present in the Morning Worship numbered 25, with one first time visitor. We are happy to report that Bethel MBC has purchased two acres of land in Hope on Highway 29, near the hospital, with plans to erect a new church plant in that location. We believe this will increase our visibility and appeal in this community. (Pictures of this property can be viewed at the "Photos from Hope" page.) The Lord has truly been good to us. We are happy to report two professions of faith last week at our Vacation Bible School. A nine year old boy and a ten year old girl accepted Jesus Christ as savior. We praise God for this! Please pray for us during this week of revival services. Bro. Jim West will be bringing the messages each evening, Wednesday through Friday. Also pray for him as he prepares to be with us and to preach God's Word to us. As always, we thank you for your prayers and financial support and pray that God will richly bless each one of you.

  • Sunday, August 22, 1999 -- Some were out of town, others were recovering from surgery. Whatever the case, attendance was down a little this week at Landmark MBM. Fifteen were present for Sunday School, twenty for Morning Worship, with one first time visitor. We enjoyed a good series of revival services Wednesday through Friday and were encouraged by the messages. Our prayer is that God will continue to touch hearts through the Lord that was delivered last week. Please continue to pray for us as we move forward in a building program. With our relocation, Landmark will truly be a "brand new" work in the city of Hope. Remember us as we visit and witness of Christ, that the Lord will bless, add to the work, and that we will soon see a strong, self-supporting church in Hope. May God bless each one of you.

  • Sunday, August 29, 1999 -- We were blessed with four additions in the Morning Worship services. A man and his wife joined by statement (They were members of Liberty MBC, and their names were left off the membership list when Liberty became Landmark MBM), and two of their children came forward on professions of faith, desiring to be baptized and become a part of this work. We can only praise God for His goodness in adding once again to His work here in Hope. A total of 21 attended Sunday School, with 32 in the worship services, and 8 first time visitors. Again we thank you for your prayers and financial support, and pray God's blessings upon each of you.

    1998 REPORTS

  • Sunday, August 2 -- We were blessed with a good number of members from Bethel MBC in the afternoon services. We also had a return visitor, Bro. Burke (who had also been in the morning services), as well as our regular attenders. I truly believe that the excitement and anticipation of Bro. Fulmer's arrival is building. Yesterday I gave visitation brochures to the members, and some are already making plans to hand them out to co-workers, etc. We still need your prayers that the Fulmers can get all their "loose ends" in Alabama resolved and get to move on the field in Hope. Satan is doing all he can to delay them and discourage us, but be assured that our faith and dependence is in the Lord. Once more we thank you for your prayers and faithful support.
  • Sunday, August 9 -- With each passing Sunday we anticipate the arrival of Bro. Fulmer and his family on this field. The mission members are excited at the prospect of his coming, and so are the members of Bethel. Already, we are scheduled to meet with the First Union Association Mission Rally on August 29, where Bro. Fulmer will bring the message. In the meantime, we continue to have good services at Landmark MBM every Sunday morning and afternoon. Our attendance in the afternoon services was down a little today, but we remain encouraged and optimistic. May we also be thoughtful enough to thank each one who reads this for their prayers and support. We pray that in the next couple of weeks we will be rejoicing over the arrival of Bro. Pat on the field. Please pray with us to this end. May God bless each one of you.
  • Sunday, August 16 -- All we can say about this week's services is, "Praise the Lord!" We had a wonderful attendance as several members from Morris MBC in Prescott, as well as some from Bethel and one individual from the Hope area, visited with us in the afternoon worship. Bro. Tal Webb, pastor of Morris, brought a wonderful message from Second Corinthians the fourth chapter. Following the services, I talked with the visitor from the Hope area, who indicated a desire to become a part of the work. We look forward to seeing this one join the work in the near future. Also, Bro. Fulmer will be moving into the area this week, so we ask that you remember him in your prayers as he travels to Arkansas. As always, we thank you for your faithfulness to pray for us and for your financial support.
  • Sunday, August 23 -- This was Bro. Fulmer's first Sunday on the field, and Landmark Mission was blessed with a good attendance and some return visitors in the morning services. In the afternoon worship, 16 from Bethel at Ashdown attended to welcome Bro. Fulmer to the work to which the Lord has led him. Bro. Pat arrived in Hope on Wednesday and began visiting right away. We had several good visits on Thursday, and even when he had water problems on Friday, he witnessed to the plumber and invited him to attend the services at Landmark. Please continue to pray for the Fulmers to sell their house in Alabama and find a place to live in Hope. Currently, Bro. Fulmer and his oldest son Jonah are living in a camper beside the church house. Sis. Fulmer has returned to Alabama to get thing ready for moving and, hopefully, to be there when the house sells. We thank you for your financial support and your prayers. Also note, Bro. Fulmer will be speaking at the First Union Association mission rally Saturday night, August 29. The rally will meet with New Home MBC in Stephens and starts at seven o'clock.
  • Sunday, August 30 -- Bro. Fulmer reports good services at Landmark Mission. We'll be sharing a more detailed report written by Bro. Fulmer as soon as possible. The morning services saw a good attendance, including one mission member who had not been present in some time and a couple of return visitors. The mission members decided to move the evening services to 6 P.M. In the those services we were blessed with our first additions when a man and his wife came forward on promise of a letter. Bro. Fulmer continues to actively visit, making between 20 and 30 contacts in his first week on the field. At present, Landmark is not meeting for mid-week worship, so Bro. Fulmer is available on Wednesday evenings to come and share the work at Hope at that time. We have nothing new to report on the sale of the Fulmers' house in Alabama or their purchase of a house in Hope. Please continue to pray about these two situations. We had a wonderful time meeting with the Mission Rally of the First Union Association. The churches of this association are to be commended for their support of Landmark Missionary Baptist Mission, as are all of you who faithfully support us with your prayers and your offerings. May God bless you richly.
