  INTRODUCTION:

    1. Fear is probably the greatest tool Satan uses against us today -- fear and laziness.

            1) Afraid to witness (or try) because we fear we might fail.
            2) Philippians 4:13.
        b. There is the fear of security -- of what might happen to us (if we do witness).

            2) Psalm 23:5 ; Philippians 4:19.

            therefore, with trembling.

            2) Hebrews 12:28-29.
        d. This is the peace of His power.

        reasons in our text.
        a. He will strengthen us.

        c. He will sustain us. He says:

            b. We need His strength if we are not going to be like Demas or John Mark.
            c. (Incidently, John Mark in Acts & in II Tim.shows the difference between serving God in our strength
                and in His strength.)
        3. God promises to give us strength to stand for Him.

        a. Fear of failing.
        b. Fear of the future.
        c. Fear of falling.
    3. However, let us be reminded once again of II Timothy 1:7.
        a. FEAR = moral cowardice; timidity.
        b. This does not come from God but from Satan.
        c. Notice what God gives us:
            1) POWER = dynamic ability.
            2) LOVE = self-sacrificing love for Him and for the brethren (as well as for the souls of lost men).
            3) SOUND MIND = self-restraint; temperance.
    4. If we are to live w/o fear in these last days, we must remember: He is our God, and He is with us.
