THANKSGIVING

By Vilma de Coteau

‘TOMORROW is another day,’
Is what I was once told.
When I was feeling down and out,
And grumpy on the whole.

‘That may be very true indeed,’
I thought it wise to say -
‘But what am I to do with NOW
While tomorrow’s on its way.’

Just look around outside and see
The mountains and the sky,
The branches swaying in the breeze
As it gently hurries by.

The flowers gay upon the hill,
The sunlight on the sea,
The love-light in that mother’s eyes
For the babe upon her knee.

And listen to the children
As they laugh and romp and play -
Then bow your head and thank the Lord
For giving you TODAY.
