I will think of Gramma in my flowers
In my roses as they blooms
In my Garden as I harvest
In the sunshined afternoon
In the silence of the evening
In the dark and full mooned night
In the honey-suckled dusk
In the early morning light
When I hear the half-hummed remnants
Of a folk-song, sung off-key
When the froggie comes a-courtin'
I'll know he's courtin' me
On the nights I'm filled with sorrow
And I think that God is gone
I'll pray that I'll have half the strength
That she had to go on
I'll ask her for her courage
I'll ask her for her faith
I'll feel her love come back to me
And feel her warm embrace
And I'll tell her of my flowers
Of my roses as they bloom
Even as I grieve because
She left us much too soon
