The beautiful young Dorothy Florence Burk was born in Surrey, British
Columbia, Canada June 11, 1921. She was the fifth child of six siblings,
Roy, Mike, Pearl, Bill and John. Her parents, William H. and
Trina Marie (Grandberg) moved their family to Tacoma, Washington when
she was young.
Dorothy had aspired to be a model in her younger years. She was working for the telephone company when she met and married Thomas Michael Walsh on March 15, 1947. In 1949, she gave birth to her first son, Gregory while in Japan with Tom during the occupation. Back in Spokane in 1951, she had Therese, and then in 1958 her youngest son, Timothy was born.
Dorothy came down with the debilitating disease of Multiple Sclerosis shortly after Tim's birth. By the time she was 45 years old, she was in a wheelchair. Dorothy continued her role as a wonderful and loving mother until her death on January 2, 1983.
She is survived by her sister Pearl. Her children Gregory Thomas in Olympia, WA and his son, Michael Gregory and great-granddaughter Katlyn Ranee. Daughter Therese Ann in South Lake Tahoe, CA and her children Keegan Timothy, Patrick Forest, and Ailiah Trina Dee. Her son Timothy John, also in South Lake Tahoe, and his daughters Danielle Marie and Rachel Theresa (b. Feb 21, 1987 - d. Aug 7, 1987).
Dorothy Walsh was a devout woman. She was a sensitive and loving mother who lived for her children and longed to be involved in the lives of her grandchildren. She was much loved and is sorely missed.
