Hi, My name is Crystal, I live in a small town in Tennessee. I am 32 years old and have been married to the same wonderful man for almost 12 years now. I am a stay at home mom with three obnoxious, but precious sons. I am still in the process of getting my pages together.
While surfing the Internet I have come across a lot of UNSOLICITED pornography. I do not look for pornography and had NO IDEA that a link that I was clicking on was leading to very pornographic material. I have found many sites that do not have a "front door" so to speak that warn visitors what's on that particluar site. Vulgar, disgusting, indecent, and immoral pictures and even videos just pop up when the page is loading, with NO WARNING at all. Actually, even pages with a so-called "front door" display those vulgar, disgusting banners, so what good is a "front door". Those XXX rated banners just pop up. Since my children and I like to surf the net together, I have installed Net Nanny on my computer in order to filter out this trash. But Net Nanny does not block it from view. A page will load, and then Net Nanny will give you 30 secs. to override or a browser will shut down. Now, 30 secs. is long enough for filth to pop up on the screen and be seen by youngsters. And many times Net Nanny does not even come up. A user is allowed into that page.
I DO believe in freedom of speech, but I also believe in DECENCY and MORALITY. If we aren't looking for this trash, we should not HAVE TO BE exposed to it. Where is the line drawn on "Freedom of Speech?" One is not allowed to outside naked,
as they would be arrested for indecency, so WHY is it that there are ALL KINDS of INDECENT material that can be viewed by
ANYONE with internet access?
The Internet is a wonderful source of information, but many people, including myself feel that there should be some kind of guidelines. If pornography is allowed to exist on the internet there HAS TO BE SOME KINDS OF GUIDELINES and/or restrictions as there are in adult book/video stores. People who CHOOSE to go into adult book stores and/or video stores do so of THEIR OWN ACCORD and are OF AGE. If not of age, they and/or the store manager will be ARRESTED. Why is it then that the people who DO NOT go into that stuff on the internet, and/or aren't of age to view that sort of stuff are subjected to it left and right? Since getting online a very short time ago, I have noticed that the pornography has definately increased. There seems to be some that want the Internet to be NOTHING BUT a pornographic playground, that's such a shame.
SOMETHING HAS GOT TO BE DONE. A good place to start would be to SEND LETTERS and/or EMAIL to our SENATORS and even Vice President Al Gore, he's got young children, doesn't he? Wonder if he'd like them finding this TRASH? I doubt it.

Gee, its no wonder there is such a MORAL DECLINE in our country, especially since the LEADER of our country LACKS moral decency HIMSELF?
