Now this is my opinion only. In studying the area where John(owned land on Wolf Creek) was located, Greenbrier Co. WVa(formerly Augusta Co., VA), about 90% of the population was Scotch-Irish, which means they came from an area around Ulster where a lot of Scottish and English(probably Northern) were moved to after the Clearances began. The Clearances were when the people were moved off their land to make room for sheep. Also many Scottish went there to escape being murdered because they were on the wrong side during one of the many wars that were fought for power. So we, as Millers, could be originally from Scotland. If we were then we were most likely associated with the MacFarlane Clan near Loch Loumond. This is going to be next to impossible to prove since we aren't sure when John came over to the Americas or exactly where he came from. We can only conjecture that we are Scottish and from the MacFarlane Clan. Miller could be a derivitive of Mueller which is German but my Cousin Roger had stated that he firmly believed that we were Scotch-Irish since he had seen some records showing Millar which is commonly a Scottish name.
Whichever it is we are Miller and this has branched out from John Miller to many cousins of today.
Hang in there, folks. I have some major new info coming in on some new branches and I now know that I must redo this page. Bear with me and visit my Family Tree Maker site until I can redo this page.
