Doggy Birthday Cake!
3/4 cup cornmeal | 1 teaspoon molasses |
3/4 cup unbleached flour | 1 large egg, slightly beaten |
1/2 cup whole wheat four | 1 cup water |
1 teaspoon baking soda | beef jerky strip dog treats (torn into 1/4 inch pieces |
1 teaspoon baking soda | 8-ounce package of fat free cream cheese |
1. Stir together the cornmeal, flours, baking soda and baking
powder in a medium size mixing bowl.
2. Add the molasses, egg, and water; stir well.
3. Stir in the beef jerky pieces until well distributed in the
dough.
4. Spread the dough evenly in a greased 8 inch square pan.
5. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 20-25 minutes.
6. Let the cake cool completely.
7. Spread the cream cheese thinly on top of the cake immediately
before serving. (If the fat free cream cheese is spread on too
thinly, it will start to crack after awhile.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Makes 16
2-by-2 servings.
Label that the cake is for the dog.
