Find out what is happening with your family. Do you have any news to share? You can now get to our page by: www.geocities.com/pateriks. Should be easier to remember. Anne and Jim welcome our new tenant, who just happens to be another music major fresh out of college. Our former tenant got married, bought a house and has moved out. Ms. Tamineh and her husband bought a house on the next block over, so we still get to visit with them once in awhile. Our new tenant moved in on September 9th with a truck load of stuff and parents that had a Bravada full of stuff, as well. He needs no introduction because his name is Andrew (Phil) Paterik; although I’m not sure how many people in Illinois will be calling him “Phil”. He’ll be labeled more along the lines of “nephew” or “grandson” or “Roy’s boy” or just “Andy” and “Andrew”. In any case, he has a position at Crete Reformed Church as the “Director of Music Ministries”, or some such title as that. We’ll have to encourage him to give us an update after he’s settled in. Welcome to Illinois, nephew! We are all very proud of you and pray for God’s continued blessings. Beth has been working at home since July. I am doing web design, writing and other work for a Life Coach in Australia. I am also getting my own life coaching business off the ground helping people achieve their goals, simplify their life, get organized, and/or find their purpose.Encouraging Coach is my new web site. Jeff is back on second for a bit, but he is back in quality and out of production. Jeff and Jonathan are playing with their new toy: a go-cart. Brea has been playing outside as much as possible. Grandpa Paterik no longer is using an e-mail address. Dear Family: We hope all of you are well and that 2003 has been a good year thus far. Bradley & Brice have four more days of school, and are so ready for summer break. They are both playing baseball again this season and the games continue until late June. Both will each attend one week of camp in July, Bradley with the Boy Scouts while Brice is attending a day camp with a friend. Bradley recently auditioned for the all-district 6th grade choir for the next school year and was one of three from his school chosen for the group. He will also being doing traffic patrol and Beta club, a service group which he was elected to this past year. He's looking forward to being the top dog on campus next year. Brice will be in his second year (Bradley his third) of the REACH program for gifted students, and is looking forward to being off-campus for one day each week. Becky is looking forward to that week so she can get some work done for her business. She has been on a task force earlier this Spring for the church that has been assigned the role of developing options for increasing stewardship. I am teaching a summer graduate class at another university on Saturday afternoons until mid-July. In addition, my job search continues though not many leads thus far given the economy remains slow. While my current job looks secure, there are several reasons for wanting to move. Beyond the university's financial crisis, in the three years I've been there, it has been a constant marketing battle to get students involved and obtain support from the faculty. Furthermore, I am eager to return to the business arena, as it moves at a faster pace and I prefer working more with mid- and senior-level mangers and executives. The only vacation plans we have are to make our annual trek to South Padre Island in late July and stop at Sea World in San Antonio on the way home. We had hoped to make a trip to Michigan but it will have to wait. Do you have any trips planned for this summer? Hope all is well with each of you. Love, Rich & Becky Here is a link for more information on the neuropathy affecting some of the family. Would you like to see Rich in a Marathon? Here's some more marathon pictures Hello! All . . . Just some update on the Nebraska Paterik's. Roy is continuing to keep busy with his two churches and healthwise is doing fine. Both Roy and Marie enjoyed vacationing with the brothers and sisters-in-laws in Florida. Marie's back is still healing and she has problems standing for a long period of time, as well as walking long distances. After one hour in the pulpit she is ready to sit down and rest. The surgeon says this might get better, and Marie has to keep walking and exercising as much as she can to strengthen the muscles which were affected by the ruptured disc. Andrew is approaching his final semester at North Western College and actively contacting churches for music positions. He is excited about all the churches that are emailing and writing to him as they inquire about his skills. News from Missouri Tom is still working at Sprint PCS. There was a round of layoffs in my area in December. There is another round next Wednesday. So pray for us. Martha finished Bible School in December. She just received her diploma last week. I am working full time for the state of Michigan as a social worker working with foster children. Nathan is going to school at Wayne State to finish his history degree. Both of us are leading our church Young Adults group. This has taken a lot of our time, but is very exciting. I am still in the church choir. We are kept busy with activities and friends.
