Poems IV

The Candle

Once I danced in the light of love

And all the world was new

Together then we set a course

No thing we could not do

Then the best of me was stolen

Left in darkness with no doubt

A careless horse made out of steel

Had blown my candle out

I wandered lonely in the dark

Just getting thru the days

Pain too great to deal with

I walled it all away

Then one who couldn't see the walls

Came and held for me a light

But I grabbed ahold too tightly

When for her it wasn't right

Cast adrift completely

No walls left to hide behind

No hopes or dreams for comfort

No thing left that I would find

Afraid to love to risk my heart

Let some one know I care

But more afraid to sleep at night

In a bed with no one there

Once I danced in the light of love

But the world is seldom kind

Alone I'll wander in the dark

Until a light I find

The Look In My Eyes

There's a look in my eyes

That I just can't hide

Betraying emotions

I feel deep inside

Yes the look in my eyes

Says that I want to see

All that we are

And all we could be

There's a thought in my mind

Of the beauty that's you

Makes me wish beyond hope

That you felt this way too

There's a want in my heart

That you can fulfill

Just look in my eyes

I'm wanting you still

And the want in my heart

Is a seat for your soul

And it's waiting for you, girl

To make me a whole

`Cause the look in my eyes.....Is love

The Rug

Listen to the lovely songbird

whose strains make my heart soar

Trapped inside a guilded cage

And dreaming 'bout a door

Flying free without restraints

All the places she would go

Decisions now all hers to make

All the ways that she could grow

A sad refrain it pains my heart

'bout the door that makes despair

But its the plain and simple truth

That the door just isn't there

Afraid of change, afraid of hurt

Or of spending life alone

Too soon to open up her heart

Door might as well be stone

I wonder if she'll ever see

That door for what it is

And step outside into a world

Where she can truly live

Where her heart can sing a song of love

And its doors be opened wide

A true and equal partnership

Walking happily side by side

For now the bird she will not see

Her feet stuck in the sand

But should she choose to venture out

I'll make sure she sees my hand

To a Friend

The times you bring me laughter, and the

smiles from deep inside...

The way it makes me feel when we spend

time or confide...

The way you make the sun shine, when my

world is seeming blue...

You really shouldn't wonder, that I've

been thinking about you...

Wishing Star

The moon lights the horizon

The sky is full of stars

I'm staring at the brightest one

And wondering how you are

The calm sea, smooth as glass

Reflects the moonlights hue

Our wake marks the way we pass

As I'm thinking of you

A cloud floats by, obscures my view

My heart gives out a sigh

I think of how my love for you

Has just been thrown aside

A cooling breeze, the cloud drifts on

A meteor splits the sky

It leaves a trail of hope, anon

Before I start to cry

I wish my heart had its desire

But I'm all out of try

So star and heart won't you conspire

Learn how to say goodbye!

Remember Me

Though the worlds harshness

Invades your life with

Hard facts and cold realities

..........Remember dreaming

When the necessities of life

Outweigh your personal

Satisfaction and happiness

..........Remember friendship

When your losses and failures

Shadow your soul like

A tower ready to crush you

..........Remember sweet victory

If you're feeling abandoned

By those you have loved and

The loneliness hardens your heart

..........Remember who loves you
