My son was a very nice, smart and a good looking boy who gave me so much pleasure over the years he was with me. He was a junior in high school and a member of the Vocational Educational Club of America. Everyone loved him so much!
This is the terrible tragedy that happened to him. I hope everyone who reads his will think wisely before leaving or allowing there children to leave in an automobile. He was out with a friend on March 3, 1990 and they were on there way home that night.
They were driving down a curving road and his friend some how lost control of the car. The car must have been going too fast for the curve because as they turned into it, the car ran off into a driveway and traveled 91 feet. My son Rocky was thrown through the windshield. The car hit another driveway, then traveled 72 feet up in the air, and came back down landing on top of him. Then the car struck another driveway and went another 33 feet striking then striking another drive and finally came to a rest after going another 60 feet.
I was called and told that he was in an accident. I was so hysterical on my way to the hospital Praying "Please Lord let my baby be ok." When I got to the hospital, it was too late. The doctor came out and told us he was gone. The things that went through my mind at the time were "Why did I let him go?" "Was I a good mother to him?" "Why didn't he wear his seat belt?" "Why did he have to die"? I felt like it was all my fault. My son's death was extremely hard on me and I felt so helpless and discouraged. There were days when it was an effort for me to even get out of the bed. This went on for weeks. Then I finally thought to myself my daughter needs me now more than ever, because not only did I lose my son, she had lost her only brother. So I went to her and we both grieved together. We now know that Rocky is in a better place in Heaven with God where he will be harmed no more... We love and miss you Rocky and one day we will see you again!
Just a Reminder... Please make sure your kids are wearing seat belts before leaving in a automobile. It may save their life
God Bless You All!
