HONORED PRINCETON COUPLE OBSERVE GOLDEN WEDDING

[Mr. & Mrs. J. L. Anderson]

Courier
June 25, 1925

Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Anderson, a respected old Princeton couple, observed their golden wedding anniversary at Lake Worth near Forth Worth. Both of them are natives of McNary county, Tennessee. Mr. Anderson was born there November 23, 1852 while his wife was born May 12, 1855. Her maiden name was Mary A. Stewart. They were united in marriage in Arkansas county, Arkansas, June 25, 1875 by Squire Walls.

The Stewart family left Tennessee for Arkansas in the year 1860. The Anderson family did not leave Tennessee until 13 years later, going to the same county in Arkansas in the year of 1873.

J. L. Anderson, wife and their first baby, left Arkansas for Texas in 1877, settling in Red River county where they resided until 1884 when they moved to Collin county and settled in the Verona community. They were accompanied from Arkansas to Red River county by John S. Stewart, brother of Mrs. Anderson, wife and baby. The two families made the trip from Arkansas to Red River county Texas, in an ox wagon.

Mr. and Mrs. Anderson resided on their farm in the Verona community until 1906 when they moved to Tioga, Texas, for the benefit of Mrs. Anderson's health. After residing at Tioga for five years they moved to their present home in Princeton. They own several hundred acres of land between Princeton and Verona.

Mr. Anderson is a successful farmer and business man. They reared a fine family of children as follows: F. H. Anderson, a merchant of Frisco, Texas; R. R. Anderson, a Princeton business man; Mrs. John Turner of Detroit, Red River county, Texas; Mrs. John K. Wilson, wife of a Princeton merchant, and Mrs. C. J. Thomason, of Waxahachie, Texas. The last named two daughters are twins. One son, James Anderson, died at the family home in the Verona community in the year 1904 at the age of twenty-five.

Mrs. Anderson's brother who came to Texas with them, John S. Stewart, is a prominent business man and banker of Blue Ridge, this county. J. L. Anderson is rated as among the substantial and successful citizens of our county. He is a man of solid integrity and much influence in his section of our county.

Mr. and Mrs. Anderson have the best wishes of a very wide circle of friends and acquaintances on the attainment of their golden wedding anniversary. All wish for them many more years of health and marital happiness.
