May 1895
The small pox
epidemic in the community west of Plano has proven to be fatal and very sad
with the Collinsworth family. The following is clipped from yesterday's
Dallas News:"
Plano, Collin
Co., Tex., May 21 - Tobe Collinsworth, 23 years old, whose parents live in
Livia, Ky., died with small-pox this evening at the home of Mrs. Levi
Collinsworth, five miles west of Plano, who lost her husband with the
dreaded disease ten days ago. This is the fourth death in the Collinsworth
families in the past month from this disease. Mrs. F. M. Collinsworth now
has the disease and Mrs. Levi Collinsworth and 9-year-old daughter are the
only ones that have recovered after taking same.
