GOOD WOMAN GOES TO REWARD

Sarah A. M. Jeffcoats, nee
McAdams, was one of the oldest Collin county settlers. Mrs. Jeffcoats of the
Blue Ridge community in Northeast Collin, died Friday morning at 5:00 o'clock,
Jan. 3 after prolonged suffering superinduced by advanced age. She had been
bedfast for over a year. Every care was given her in her declining days that
loving hands could do, and she passed peacefully from the walks of life to the
home over there.
Deceased was born in Crenshaw
county, Ala., 75 years ago. She was married to George Jeffcoats in the year of
1855; moved to Collin county in the early 60's with her family and settled on
the place near Blue Ridge which has ever since been her home. The deceased has
therefore seen Blue Ridge grow from a wilderness to one of the prettiest and
most prosperous villages in the State. She was a member of the M. E. Church,
South, and one of the oldest members of the Woman's Aid Society of the church
here. By the aid of her good friends and with her good words and hard work she
placed in the M. E. Church at Blue Ridge 25 years ago one of the prettiest sets
of seats that could be had in those days and they still remain in the church to
her honor. Grandma had been a member of this congregation ever since first
established, and at all times lived a consistent Christina life, a life that we
would do well to emulate. She was a loving daughter and sister, a faithful wife
and a kind mother, true friend and neighbor.
She was the mother of 11
children, three of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her aged
husband, George Jeffcoats and eight children, as follows: Tally Jeffcoats, late
of blue Ridge, but now of Lone Oak, Texas; W. S. Jeffcoats, Mrs. C. W. Carsoa,
B. W. Jeffcoats, C. D. Jeffcoats of Newport, Texas; Mrs. L. T. McGuffey, Mrs. W.
B. Maddox, and Dudley Jeffcoats. The last named still resides at home.
Funeral Saturday afternoon at
1:00 o'clock. The M. E. Church at Blue Ridge was filled with the relatives and
friends of the family to pay their last tribute of respect. A full choir was
present and some of their choicest selections were rendered. The funeral service
was conducted by C. F. McKinney, her pastor, assisted by Rev. Wilbanks of Blue
Ridge and Rev. G. A. Dale of Blue Ridge Baptist church. These gentlemen each
made a short talk in which they told of the pure Christian life which had been
lived by the deceased. After the service at the church the procession with the
relatives and friends following the remains slowly wended its way to Snow Hill
cemetery.
