Mrs. M. E. Kerr
Dies at Vineland Saturday Night.
Mrs. Mariah
Kerr, relict of the late Maj. Green Kerr, died Saturday night at Vineland
from causes and general decline incident to old age, she having reached her
86th year. She was born in Murray county, Tennessee and emigrated to this
state with her husband in 1859 and settled on the old homestead at Vineland,
where in 1891 Maj. Kerr died.
For long years
the deceased had lived a devoted member of the Cumberland Presbyterian
church and the example of her simple, pure and consistent christian life
will long shine in the memory of all who knew her as a glorious
exemplification of the faith she professed.
Seven children
were born to the deceased as follows: J. L. and W. M. Kerr of Vineland, A.
D. Kerr of Seymore, A. W. Kerr of Houston, John S. Kerr of Sherman, Mrs. R.
R. Sneed of McKinney and Mrs. Hackady, now deceased.
The burial
occurred at Walnut Grove, 10 miles west of McKinney, Monday morning at 10
o'clock in the presence of a great concourse of sorrowing relatives and
sympathizing friends. Revs. W. P. Cloyd and W. H. Richardson of this city,
conducted the funeral services.
