Daniel Trammell Family History

By Brenda Kellow, CG

[Interviewed by Brenda Kellow at the home of Deale Burns Trammell on 12 July 1985].

First Generation

1. Lewis T. Daniel TRAMMELL. Born in 1852. Lewis T. Daniel died in McKinney, Collin, TX in 1931 at age 79. They are buried in Fitzhugh/Forest Grove, Collin County, TX.

Tombstone inscription: L.T. Trammell 1852-1931. Buried next to his wife. Interview with Aunt Deale (Burns) Trammell says his name is Lewis Daniel Trammell and he married Mary Margaret Stevens. Lewis's father's name is W. L. Trammell, says Deal in interview on 12 July 1985. A Daniel Tramilll is buried at Thompson Cemetery that I highly suspect is the father of W.L. and the grandfather of Lannie.

Lewis T. Daniel married Mary Margaret J. STEVENS. Born in 1866. Mary Margaret J. died in McKinney, Collin, TX in 1958, she was 92. Buried in Fitzhugh/Forest Grove, Collin County, TX.

Tombstone information: Margrette J. Trammell Wife of L.T. Trammell. 1866-1958. Deale (Burns) Trammell says her name is Mary Margaret Stevens and her husband's name is Lewis Daniel Trammell.

 They had the following children:

              2              i.    Lannie

              3             ii. Dessie Belle (1900-1978)

Second Generation

2. Lannie TRAMMELL.

On 12 Jul 1918 Lannie married Dealie BURNS, daughter of Equilla Joshua BURNS (17 Aug 1864-9 Jun 1942) & Mary Elizabeth SWAIN (14 Jan 1873-6 Aug 1940), in McKinney, Collin, TX. Born on 12 Apr 1900 in Wylie, Collin, TX.

They had the following children:

                              i. Marvin. Born on 9 May 1919 in McKinney, Collin, TX.

ii. Pauline. Born on 15 Jan 1921 in McKinney, Collin, TX.

ca 1941 when Pauline was 19, she married Zeek COPUS. He is buried in Restland Cemetery, Dallas, TX.

iii. Clyde. Born on 19 May 1924 in McKinney, Collin, TX. Clyde died on 7 Aug 1974, he was 50.

iv. Bill. Born on 2 Dec 1933 in McKinney, Collin, TX.

Bill had a stroke the first week of September 1993.

 3. Dessie Belle TRAMMELL. Born on 28 Aug 1900 in Alabama. Dessie Belle died in Dallas, Dallas, TX on 16 Mar 1978, she was 77. Buried in Restland Cemetery, Dallas, TX.

Leslie Keys was her first husband. Leslie had a brother Clifford. Will was his father. Clarence was Leslie's oldest brother. Deale says the Keys are from Oklahoma, but I think they are from Missouri. They had other family, Alton, Choice and Calvin living in Longview.

On 26 Aug 1917 when Dessie Belle was 16, she first married Charles Leslie KEYS, son of W.I. KEYS & Mida KEYS, in McKinney, Collin, Texas who was born in 1899.

They had one child before he was murdered:

              4              i. Delphia Margaret (1918-1999)
