COMMUNITY CEMETERY - CELINA south side of CR994 Cemeteries of Collin County, Texas, by Joy Gough This cemetery covers about 1 acres of land and has about 20 [marked] graves. it is unfenced. Burials appear to be on the western and eastern ends leaving the middle empty. Some of the local people seem to think that there were two different grants of land. A deed listed in Vo. 537, p 346, says that the trustees of the Community Cemetery association own the cemetery. They bought additional land from Paul O’Brien in 1958. According to REMINISCENCES OF CELINA, Mr. Seitz sold graves in his cow pasture to the colored people. They list the dates 1918 - 1976 for the cemetery. The book was writtten in 1976. There have been burials since then, mostly marked with Veteran’s tombstones. The cemetery appears to be active. The cemetery is somewhat neglected. The grass could be cut and several stones are hidden in the grass and dirt. Here is a list of additional people buried in the cemetery taken from REMINISCENCES OF CELINA and from photos.
