MONTGOMERY CEMETERY - BLUE
RIDGE
Morgan Road
Cemeteries of Collin County, Texas, by Joy
Gough
Morgan Road is not on the maps. I am
assuming that it is not a county road.
The cemetery is on the Joseph Mathews survey. The Largents owned the land before
the Montgomerys. There are 3 Largents buried here with graves dating from 1858
to 1862. I have been told that at one time there was a store here called
Montgomery Store. The cemetery was deeded in Vol 595, p 360, "less ½ acre for
burial purposes." The Montgomerys still maintain the cemetery. The owners of the
ranch are not related to the Montgomerys.
The ranch has electric fences. You will need help from the owners of the ranch
in visiting the cemetery. The cemetery itself is surrounded by a 4-foot
chain-link fence. It is about 30 feet square. The arch over the entrance says
"Montgomery" and "1858." There are about 9 stones with footstones. The cemetery
is in good repair, although at the time of my visit, the grass needed to be cut.
There is a mail box near the entrance for visitors to sign the guest book.
