Miracode - uses soundex codes

  •            lists visitation number assigned by the enumerator

  •            no page and line number on which the person appears

  •            gives volume number and enumeration district

  •            separate card for each person in the household

  •            covers only  the following 21 states:

                                AL, AR, CA, FL, GA, IL, KS, KY, LA, MI, MS, MO, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX,  VA, WV

Coding a Surname

                  1 = b, p, f, v.

                  2 = c, s, k, g, j, q, x, z.

                  3 = d, t.

                  4 = l.

                  5 = m, n.

                  6 = r.

No code is assigned to the vowels a, e, i, o, u, and  y, w, h.
