M. Darrouzet, JD, CGRS
CGRS
works as a genealogist and an attorney. Her research focuses on Texas and
the southern and southwestern United States. She received her
certification as a Certified Genealogical Records SpecialistSM
from the Board of Certification of Genealogists in March 2003.
Stella
Fincher has 17 years
experience as a genealogist and has been a genealogy volunteer at the
local library for eight years. She is a charter board member of Genealogy
Friends of Plano Libraries, Inc. where she has served as Education
Director and coordinator of Genealogy Library Lock-Ins as well as
newsletter editor. She has completed Course I and II of Genealogy for the
Determined Genealogist; Course II (Intermediate), Course III (Advanced),
and Course VI (Research Skills) from the Genealogy Institute of Texas;
Course III (The Trans-Appalachian South), Course IV (Advanced Methodology
and Evidence Analysis), and Course V from the Institute of Genealogy and
Historic Research at Samford University, as well as many other courses,
lectures and seminars. She has also given many lectures on genealogy
locally. Topics include: Beginning Genealogy, What Was That Name Again,
Reading Old Handwriting, Writing Research Reports, Back To The Basics, The
Census Is Talking, Are You Listening?
Weldon
Fincherhas a Bachelor of
Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University, and a
Masters in Administrative Science from University of Texas at Dallas. He
has been doing genealogy since 1995. He is a member of Genealogy Friends
of Plano Libraries, Dallas Genealogical Society, and National Genealogical
Society. He has presented programs on Federal Land Research (locating land
maps and platting), photographing tombstones (with emphasis on artificial
light to bring out details), copying old photographs using several
techniques, and advanced features of using the Google search engine for
the internet. He will be attending the National Institute of Genealogical
Research in Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2004.
Brenda
Kellow, CGhas
a bachelor's degree in history and both teaches and lectures on
genealogy. She
has been certified by the Board of Certification of Genealogists as a
Certified GenealogistSM
since1995, and a Certified Genealogical InstructorSM.
from
1997 to 2002. Brenda began her teaching experience in 1978. Her
genealogical experience prompted her to design and develop extensive
genealogy courses at Collin County Community College and SMU.
She
has published a weekly genealogy column in the Plano
Star Courier newspaper since 1995. Brenda conducts national and local
workshops; has spoken internationally; and, is the author of an
award-winning book on family history, Charles C. Stibbens, Soldier of
San Jacinto, …, 1992. For her contributions to Texas
History, in 1992 Governor Ann Richards awarded her the honorary title, Admiral
in the Texas Navy. Brenda is Founding Director and President
of Genealogy Friends of Plano Libraries, Inc. since its inception in
October 1997.
