Thomas Boulding, maltster of Crundall 1702
In the Name of God Amen The nineteenth day of June in the first year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Ann by the Grace of God of England Scotland ffrance & Ireland Queen Defender of the ffaith etc AD 1702.
I Thomas Boulding of Crundale in the County of Kent, Maltster being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind memory and understanding, God be praised therefore do make & ordain this my present last Will & Testament in manner following first & principally I resign up my soul into the hands of the Almighty God that gave it hoping & assuredly trusting to receive free pardon & Remission of all my Sins only in & through the meritorius Death & Passion of my alone Saviour & redeemer Jesus Christ And my Body to the Earth from whence it came to be decently interred at the discretion of mine Executrix wherein after named And as for that part & portion of Worldy Goods which it hath pleased the Almighty God to bestow upon me out of his Infinite Mercy I give devise & bequeath the same in manner and form following
Item I give & devise unto my loving wife Susanna All that my Messuage & Tenement commonly called or known by the name of the sign of the Red Lyon together with the land & appurtenances lying & being in the Parish of Wye in the said County of Kent for & during & untill my Son Robert Boulding shall attain to his full age of One & Twenty Years;
And after my said son Robert hath attained his full Age of One & Twenty Years Then I give & devise the same Messuage & Tenement called the Red Lyon together with the Lands & Appurtenances lying in Wye aforesaid unto my son John Boulding to hold to him & his heirs forever.
Item. I devise & give unto my loving wife Susanna for & during her natural life All that Messuage & Tenement commonly called or known by the Name of Little Ripple together with the Malthouse, Barn, Stable and Other Outhouses thereto belonging and ffour pieces or parcels of Land situate lying & being in Crundale aforesaid And one piece or parcel of Land called Staple Croft lying near a certain place called Sylvia's Hole in Godmersham in the said county of Kent & from & after here ...
so Then I devise & give the said Messuage & Malthouse & lands in Crundale & Godmersham unto my son Thomas Boulding to hold to him & his heirs forever also paying out thereunto his Brother Robert Boulding the Sum of Twenty pounds of good & lawfull Money of England within One year after my said wifes decease if my said son Robert shall so long live.
Item. I give & devise unto my loving Wife Susanna All that my Messuage or Tenement & Lands lying & being at a certain place called Bilting in Godmersham aforesaid & now in the occupation of Robert Wanstall untill my said son Robert shall attain to his full age of One & twenty Years And after he hath attained to the full age of One & twenty Years Then I give & devise unto him the said Robert Boulding my Son to hold to him & his heirs forever;
Item, my will & meaning is that if my said Wife Susanna shall happen to marry again That then I give & devise a Moiety of the said Messuage & Lands lying in Crundale & Godmersham aforesaid to my said son Thomas immediately after her intermarriage and the other Moiety after her decease as is above mentioned & expressed,
Item, I give & bequeath unto my Mother Stokes all Necessaries to furnish the parlour in my Mansion House which I devise & give unto her to live in during her natural Life And my Will & desire is that my said Wife Susanna shall find & provide for her sufficient Meat & Drink & other Necessaries during her Life
Item, I give & bequeath unto my Sons John & Robert the Sum of Thirty pounds apiece of lawfull Money of England to be paid unto them when thay shall attain to their several Ages of One & Twenty Years by mine Executrix herein after named;
Item, I give & bequeath unto my said loving Wife Susanna All my household goods & Implements of housekeeping Linen Pewter Stock & crop & all other personal Estate whatsoever after my Debts Legacies & ffuneral Expences are paid & discharged & to help bring up my said three Children John Thomas & Robert And I do hereby make & ordain my said Wife Susanna full & sole Executrix of this my last Will & Testament revoking all former Wills & Testaments by me made;
In witness whereof I have to this my present last Will & Testament contained in 2 sheets of paper set my hand & seal to each sheet the day & Year first above written Thomas Boulding Signed Sealed & Published & declared by the said Thomas Boulding to be his Last Will & Testament in the presence of Ben Nicholls vic. de Boughton Aluph Robert Boulding George Carter.
