A portion of a EULOGY rendered on October 27, 1875
Written by me, Friedrich Knoblock.
I was born on January 23, 1797, in the village of Hoensheim
near Strasbourg, which was in France at that time. My father was
born in Silesia, in the kingdom of Prussia. My mother, Magdalena
Friesz was her maiden name, was born in Hoensheim. My parents
brought me up in and taught me the Lutheran faith, in which I was
baptized. When I was 25, I married Margareta Beutz, from which
marriage three children were born; two are still alive and are
living here.
In 1828, we emigrated to America and arrived on June 5 in Canton,
Ohio. On September 8 of the same year, my first wife died, and
I married Salome Hageman, a widow. From this marriage, we had
five children, of which three are living here.
