I am the child on the left. The name of the girl on the right is Phyllis. Our mothers grew up as friends and moved into the same nearby town after they got married. Phyllis is a year younger than I am. The parents remained good friends, and so Phyllis and I got to play together a lot until early teen years, when we started going our separate ways.
My Mom continued to see her childhood friend once in a while until right before her death, but Phyllis and I never chose each other as friends. Our Parents would go out together some nights. They would hire one "child sitter" for Phyllis, her older sister and me.
When I got married and moved to my present area, one of the people I met at my new church was that very same "sitter". Nancy came up and introduced herself to me. Nancy makes baskets. A lot of people make baskets that look similar to the baskets Nancy makes. The difference in these baskets lies within my memories. Since I collect baskets, I bought two baskets that Nancy made because she was always kind to me as a child. That gives these particular baskets a special meaning. I am very glad that I got to know Nancy after we both became adults.
