Applesauce-Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies

Yield: about 36 cookies

Oven Temp = 375 degrees ** preheat oven and bake cookies for 10-15 minutes. My preference is lightly browned around the edges but you will need to decide for yourself
how brown you like them.

Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening [ I use the lowest fat type of margerine I can find but you will need to add a more flour as you approach the more liquid types oils. This is ok if you are good at substitutions and switching ingredients. ]
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 and 3/4 cup of sifted flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of cinneman
1/2 teaspoon of cloves
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1 cup of oatmeal
1/2 cup of raisins
1 cup of applesauce

DIRECTIONS:

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg and mix well.
Sift together the dry ingredients, including the salt and spices [ I always use at least half of the salt the recipe indicates]. Add the dry ingrediants to the creamed mixture, alternating with the applesauce. Add raisins last after the flour is thoroughly mixed with other ingredients.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheets
