Wedding Memories

My Maternal Grandparents

Nannie and Gramp were married in June, 1920 - this was the happiest picture I could find - for the most part they had pretty serious looks on their faces - I guess they took marriage more seriously back then. At the time of my grandfather's death in April, 1975 they had been married 55 years.

My Mom and Dad

My Mom and Dad were married in July,1941 in Hillsboro, NH. They first set up "housekeeping" in Portsmouth, NH, in a little trailer near the Naval shipyards there. The best man in the picture is my Uncle Bob, Dad's youngest brother and the maid of honor, in the fashionable hat, is my Aunt Mary, Mom's only sister - we have always called her Mamie. Colored pictures were not yet the photos of choice - if so you could see that both Mom and Dad were red heads. At the time of my Dad's death, they had been married just a few days shy of 47 years.

Bob and Patty

My sister Pat(the Beauty Queen), and brother-in-law Bob, two of my most favorite people in the world, following their wedding. Amazing to think they have been married over 35 years now. Bob was a college sophomore when they married and they lived on $10.00 a week for groceries and spending money that year. A frozen pizza and a coke at home was a big night! All worth it for them, I guess, they live the "good life" now.

Jeff and Jill

My son Jeff and his bride, Jill married in November 1991. I have included them on this page with the rest of the long-lived marriages I have known in my life, in the hope that they, too, will be able to preserve the love and caring that they seem to have for each other and will also end up with one of those longlife marriages.
