While Elizabeth Ray Hinton is the sister of my great great great grandfather Hix Jones Ray, I don't know how the other Hinton families of Wayne Co, Tennessee were related to Elizabeth's husband, David "Hardy" Hinton.

INFORMATION ON HINTON GRAVES AT POWELL CEMETERY

According to Mrs. ATHA, the following members of the HINTON family are supposed to be buried at Powell Cemetery. They are buried on the west side of the cemetery with only black rocks for markers. There are six graves:

1. C. C. (Colbern Caroline) HINTON, 25 Mar 1826 - 1878, (Mrs. ATHA's great grandfather)
2. HINTON, Mary L., i6 Dec 1835 - 1877, first wife of C.C. HINTON, (Mrs. ATHA's great-grandmother)
3. HINTON, Elizabeth, dau. of C.C. and Mary L. HINTON
4. HINTON, Sarah, dau. of C.C. & Mary L.
5. HINTON, L. B., child of C.C. & Mary L.
6. HINTON, Thomas, son of C.C. & Mary L.

Elizabeth, Sarah, Rebeccah, Pairlee, Benjamin, L.B. , Nancy and Thomas are the children of C.C. HINTON and his first wife; Mary Ida, Laura Ann and J.C.B. are children by his second wife: Mary Elizabeth MORRIS, 1861 - 1935, buried at Centenary Cemetery, Wayne County, Tennessee.

Mary Ida HINTON married James BEVIS

Laura Ann HINTON married Turner BEVIS

J. C. B. (James Coleman "Buddy") HINTON married Ellen BEVIS. These last three children are buried at the Palentine Cemetery.
