What an interesting man Lafe Nance must have been!  He and his wife loaded up the Maxwell in July 1919 and travelled across a big section of the U.S.  Imagine how differnt that road trip must have been from today.  Nancy Greer, a fellow Nance researcher, transcribed four newspaper articles from the Mayfield Messenger Newspaper of Mayfield, Kentucky.  In these articles, Laff paints a visual image of the people and the landscape.  Nancy transcribed the newspaper articles exactly as they were printed - errors and all.  I edited a few words out  that do not take away from the original story. In one story, Laff states that his grandfather Reuben migrated to Trigg Co. KY. Lessomby was his grandfather and we have never found any mention of Reuben living in KY. Nancy's mother never mentioned that either. I think that was just probably a slip of thought or pen on his part.
