He was given the Neptune Certificate for crossing the Equator on Jun 16 1942 in transit at 150 deg. 30 min. 00 sec.. He resided from 1945 to 1976 in Escondido, San Diego county, California. (Possibly from before enlistment.) He served as commander of the Escondido, California, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. from 1958 to 1959 in Escondido, San Diego county, California. He resided before 1987 in Phelan, California. He resided at 242 Avenida Del Gado from 1987 to 1990 in Oceanside, San Diego county, California. He died on Aug 16 1990 in Oceanside, San Diego county, California. He was buried on Aug 21 1990 in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California. He was also known as "Jim" (and "Uncle Bummie" by his nieces).
